The Chicago Chapter of the Organization of Women in International Trade, (OWIT-Chicago), is a non-profit professional organization committed to fostering the advancement of women in international trade by providing networking and educational opportunities to enhance their knowledge of global trade issues. Revived in 2003, the Chicago Chapter is affiliated with the Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT) – an organization with over 2,000 members worldwide and operating since the early 1980’s.
OWIT-Chicago is part of a growing list of chapters that span the globe covering a multitude of countries and regions such as the U.S., Canada, Australia, Europe, Latin America, and Africa. Our members are diverse and include both men and women who share an interest in all facets of international trade and are professionals from
many industries and business sectors including: banking and finance, communications, customs and trade law, education, government and diplomacy, import/export, insurance, technology, non-profit organizations, transportation, and other trade-related services.
Our Mission
- To enhance the status and interests of women in the field of international trade through the establishment of a network of international contacts.
- To encourage and stimulate the exchange of views, ideas, and information concerning international trade and foreign affairs.
- To offer educational programs, conventions, and other activities to promote the employment of women in international trade.
- To promote professional growth, education, and leadership among women employed worldwide, in both the public and private sectors, in the field of international trade.
